Moedim are God's appointed times or designated occasions.
The word moed can refer more broadly to an appointed time, meeting, or sacred occasion, but Leviticus 23 uses it prominently for God's festival calendar.
Torah Foundation
Leviticus 23 introduces:
"the appointed feasts of the LORD."
These include:
• Sabbath
• Passover
• Unleavened Bread
• Firstfruits
• Shavuot
• Yom Teruah
• Yom Kippur
• Sukkot
Ownership
A significant feature of Leviticus 23 is that Scripture calls them:
the LORD's appointed times
rather than simply "Jewish holidays."
They are given specifically to Israel, but their theological significance derives from God's covenantal calendar.
Sacred Time
The moedim demonstrate that biblical holiness involves not merely sacred places but sacred time.
Messianic Connections
The Apostolic Writings connect major events in Yeshua's work with festival contexts:
• Passover — crucifixion
• Firstfruits imagery — resurrection
• Shavuot/Pentecost — Spirit outpouring
Later feast-to-eschatology connections should be argued carefully rather than assumed.
appointed (sign, time), (place of, solemn) assembly, congregation, (set, solemn) feast, (appointed, due) season, solemn(-ity), synogogue, (set) time (appointed).
