Description

I’ve heard people argue that the wine mentioned in the Bible was non-alcoholic, however, we have examples in the Bible where people drank too much wine and became drunk. That can only happen if the wine was alcoholic.

The idea that alcohol is sinful originated around the time when Welch invented non-alcoholic grape juice. Up until that point, there was no stigma about drinking alcohol, and in many countries, they’ve never had a problem with alcohol. In fact, up until Welch’s grape juice was invented, the Church always used wine for communion.

what does the Bible really say about drinking alcohol it's time to learn the lies hey welcome to unlearn my name is Lex and I'd like to invite you to join us each week as we unlearn the lies and dig deeper into the truth of God's Word let's get started I've heard people argue that the wine mentioned in the Bible was non-alcoholic however we have examples in the Bible where people drank too much wine and became drunk that can only happen if wine is alcoholic and Noah began to be a farmer and he planted a vineyard then he drank of the wine and was drunk and became uncovered in his tent alcohol is the natural result when fruit juice permits during fermentation yeast transforms sugars into alcohol grapes are full of natural sugars and there are wild yeasts living on their skin so as soon as the skin of the grape is broken fermentation begins to make wine the winemaker crushes the grapes releasing the sugary juice exposing it to the east the fermentation will continue until all the sugar has been turned into alcohol or the level of alcohol in the juice reaches around 15% when the yeast died naturally there was no such thing as non-alcoholic grape juice until 1869 when Thomas Bramwell Welch invented a method of pasteurizing grape juice so that fermentation was stopped and for the first time in history it was possible to have non-alcoholic grape juice the idea that alcohol is sinful originated around the time when Welch invented non-alcoholic grape juice up until that point there was no stigma about drinking alcohol and in many countries they've never had a problem with alcohol in fact up until Welch's grape juice was invented the church always used wine for communion when you sure took the wine at the Last Supper it was without a doubt an alcoholic drink we know this because grapes are harvested in the fall and Passover is in the spring since the only way to preserve juice at that time was fermentation we know without a shadow of a doubt that the wine they drink at Passover was alcoholic you should have said to drink this Passover wine in remembrance of him if drinking alcohol is sinful then Yeshua would not have commanded us to drink it in his remembrance likewise if alcohol was a sin the nisha would not have created alcohol for the wedding at but the Bible says his wine was the best wine at the wedding meaning it was not watered down or weak when the master of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine and did not know where it came from but the servants who had drawn the water knew the master of the feast called the bridegroom and he said to him every man at the beginning sets out the good wine and when the guests have well drunk then the inferior you have kept the good wine until now the phrase good wine is a reference to aged wine wine that is more alcoholic content while new wine is wine that has not been aged as long we see a reference to this in the Gospel of Luke and no one puts new wine into old wineskins or else the new wine will burst the wine skins and be spilled and the wine skins will be ruined but the new wine must be put into new wineskins and both are preserved and no one having drunk old wine immediately desires new for he says the old is better we also see that paul told timothy to drink a little wine for his stomach no longer drink only water but use a little wine for your stomach's sake and your frequent infirmities in the torah we are told that we can use our tithes to buy alcohol or strong drink for the feasts if alcohol was a sin we would not be told it was appropriate to do so and you shall spend that money for whatever your heart desires for oxen or sheep for wine or strong drink for whatever your heart desires you shall eat there before the Lord your God and you shall rejoice you and your household if drinking alcohol was a sin then God would not have said they could buy wine or strong drink as part of the feast however there are stipulations about drinking alcohol because the Bible says that the priests and the Levites could not drink alcohol when they went into the temple do not drink wine or strong drink now nor that sons with thee when you go into the tabernacle or the congregation lest you die it shall be a statute forever throughout your generations this is interesting because they were only prohibited from drinking alcohol when they were going into the tabernacle which indicates they were allowed to drink alcohol at other times it's also important to note that the Nazarite vow included abstinence from alcohol which indicates that alcohol was permitted when not taking such a vow speak to the children of Israel say to them when either a man or woman consecrates an offering to take the vow of an right two separate himself to the Lord he shall separate himself from the wine and strong drink he shall drink neither vinegar made from wine nor vinegar made from strong drink neither shall he drink any grape juice nor heat any fresh grapes or raisins all the days of a separation he shall eat nothing that is produced by the grape vine from the seed to the skin the Nazarite vow shows us that abstinence from alcohol is a willful act of separation for a time and does not apply to those who have not taken the vow drinking alcohol is not a sin but the Bible warns against being drunk and do not be drunk with wine which is dissipation but be filled with the spirit the Bible also lists drunkenness among other sins that we used to do when we lived like the world for we have spent enough of our past lifetime in doing the will of the Gentiles when we walked in lewdness lusts drunkenness revelries drinking parties and abominable idolatries the Bible also contrasts drunkenness with what it means to walk properly let us walk properly as in the day not in revelry and drunkenness not in lewdness and lust not in strife and envy we need to heed these warnings because the Bible is drunkenness as one of the works of the flesh that will keep us out of the kingdom now the works of the flesh are evident which are adultery fornication uncleanness lewdness idolatry sorcery hatred contentions jealousies outbursts of Wrath selfish ambitions dissensions heresies Envy murders drunkenness revelries and the like of which I tell you beforehand just as I also told you in time past that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God nowhere in the Bible are we told that drinking alcohol is a sin but we are told to avoid being drunk numerous times some people feel a personal conviction that they should not drink alcohol if this is the case then I recommend you do what the Holy Spirit is convicted you about however you need to realize that it is your own personal conviction and does not apply to everyone if you don't feel any conviction about drinking alcohol then drink in moderation and avoid becoming drunk because of the biblical warnings against drunkenness thanks for watching if you found this video helpful then share
