two of the churches are rebuked for sexual immorality the warning to this particular church is that they hold to the doctrine of Balaam but I have a few things against you because you have there those Balaam and why is the church following that Doctrine Balaam was hired by balik to curse Israel but God wouldn't allow Balaam to speak any curses only blessings however the Bible explains that Balaam gave balak some advice on how to defeat Israel look these women caused the children of Israel through the Council of Balaam to trespass against the Lord in the incident of peor and there was a plague among the congregation of the Lord the secret weapon of Balaam was to send in the mobite women women were sent to lead the men away from God through sexual immorality and idolatry he didn't send in armies of strong men he didn't shoot fiery arrows or charge in on Mighty horses Balaam understood that no Army could succeed against the children of Israel as long as they were in the protective hands of God so he came up with the perfect plan send in the mobite women because he knew those Pagan women would lead the men of God into sexual immorality and idolatry this is what the Book of Revelation says will happen to the church in the last days but I have a few things against you because you have there those who hold to the doctrine of Balaam who taught balak to put a stumbling block before the lack of accountability makes internet porn the most potent form of moabite women the world has ever seen and the men of God need to wake up and realize what's actually happening to us a survey was done in 2014 about porn use in Christian men and the statistics reveal that porn is a major problem in the church among young men between the ages of 18 to 30 77 percent admit to looking at porn monthly and among middle-aged men between 31 and 49 64 percent admit to looking at porn monthly the survey also revealed that 55 percent of married men admit to looking at porn monthly these statistics are tragic because it means that over half of all Christian men are being defeated by sexual sin on a regular basis why are so many Christian men being caught up in the Sin the Bible says it's because they hold to the doctrine of Balaam but what does it mean mean that we hold to the doctrine of Balaam the doctrine Balaam says it's okay to allow sexual immorality into our lives when we think we can serve God and continue to commit sexual immorality we're holding to the doctrine of Balaam this Doctrine creates a false sense of security in thinking that we won't lose our Salvation if we continue this sin remember that as long as Israel was following God they were undefeated but as soon as they turned away from God they were conquered plagued and exiled lust is one of the most dangerous and destructive things a man can do to his own soul and the Bible describes the lust of the flesh as something that Wars against your soul beloved I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims abstain from fleshly lust which war against the soul the Bible constantly warns us to stay away from lust to avoid the seductrist and not to allow ourselves to be defiled by women These Warnings are meant to keep us on guard against sexual sin and this is also why we're told to flee from sexual immorality flee sexual immorality every sin that a man does is outside the body but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body every time I read this verse I think of how Joseph ran from Potiphar's wife the only thought on his mind was getting out of her reach he didn't even try to save his coat because all he was concerned about was saving his soul the Bible describes the evil woman as a harlot a seductress and an adulteress and the Bible gives us many examples to teach us not to lust after women now these things became our examples to the intent that we should not lust after evil things as they also lusted and do not become idolaters as were some of them as it is written the people sat down to eat and to drink and Rose up to play nor let us commit sexual immorality as some of them did and in one day 23 000 fell think about some of the examples we have in scripture Adam Samson David Solomon and Ahab they were all men who were LED astray by women Adam was persuaded by Eve to eat the forbidden fruit Samson allowed Delilah to cut off his hair and the Holy Spirit left him David allowed his Lust For Bathsheba to cause him to commit adultery and murder Solomon was led in idolatry by his many wives and concubines Ahab allowed Jezebel to rule over him to kill the prophets and to lead the people into idolatry these men were all chosen by God to be leaders over God's people they were Kings judges and rulers but they failed because they allowed themselves to be led astray by women don't misunderstand what I'm saying here I'm not blaming women for the failure of men I'm saying the men are responsible for their own failure these men were deceived by women LED astray by women manipulated by women used by women dominated by women tempted by women and defeated by women the men failed because men are chosen to lead in righteousness but they let women lead them into sin Instead This is why the Bible gives men such strong warnings against lust it doesn't matter who you are you're calling your wisdom or your talents Adam was called to lead mankind Samson was called to judge the people David Solomon and Ahab were called to be Kings over Israel they all had High Calling on their lives but they were all LED astray by women how often do we hear about pastors falling into some sort of sexual sin we hear in the news all the time about pastors and Priests who've had affairs looked at pornography seek out prostitutes molest children and turn to homosexuality we hear about these men because they're leading God's people and they fell into sin but it's not just leaders who follow the list it can happen to any man of God it's easy for us to get too comfortable in our own salvation that we think we're Beyond such things it's easy for us to get overconfident in our own calling and begin to think we can get away with certain sins because we're doing so much good for the kingdom Paul understood this temptation and he knew how important it is for us to be on guard so that we won't become disqualified do you not know that those who run in a race all run but one receives the prize run in such a way that you may obtain it and everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things they do it to obtain a perishable Crown but we for an imperishable Crown therefore I run thus not with uncertainty thus I fight not as one who beats the air but I discipline my body and bring it to subjection lest when I have preached to others I myself should become disqualified Paul understood that even though he was preaching righteousness to others he had to remain on guard so that he didn't fall into temptation and lose his own salvation you know that even though he was preaching the gospel and saving the lost that if he fell into temptation that he could become disqualified he was one of the chosen Apostles hand-picked by Yeshua but he didn't put confidence in his calling because he understood that he could lose it all if he wasn't careful the Bible explains that it's the one who overcomes sin that receives the crown and the one who endures temptation is called the Son of God but those who fail to find victory over sin are cast into the Lake of Fire to Die the second death he who overcomes shall inherit all things and I will be his God and he shall be my son but the Cowardly the unbelieving the abominable murderers sexually immoral Sorcerers idolaters and all liars shall have their part in the Lake of Fire which burns with fire and brimstone which is the second death notice that sexually immoral people are listed right next to murderers Sorcerers and idolaters and they're all cast in the Lake of Fire together the sexually immoral person is just as evil as a murderer or sorcerer in the eyes of God the Bible tells us plainly that those who practice sexual immorality will not inherit the kingdom of God now the works of the flesh are evident which are adultery fornication uncleanness lewdness idolatry sorcery hatred contentions jealousies outbursts of Wrath selfish Ambitions dissensions heresies Envy murders drunkenness revelries and the like of which I tell you beforehand just as I also told you in time past that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God take a close look at that list adultery fornication uncleanness and lewdness are at the top of the list of things that will keep you out of the kingdom and all of those things are related to sexual Sin sex within the proper domain of biblical marriage is Honorable but every form of sex outside of marriage is sinful and deserving of God's judgment marriage is Honorable among all and the bed undefiled but fornicators and adulterers God will judge the marriage bed is Honorable but fornication and adultery bring judgment from God the Greek word translated fornication is pornia this is where we get the word pornography some people seem to think that pornography is harmless or acceptable because you're not actually with that person physically but remember what Yeshua said about lust but I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to Lust For Her has already committed adultery with her in his heart Yeshua explains that adultery is not just a physical act but it's also a spiritual act that takes place in our mind when we lust after a woman we're committing adultery with her in our heart this means looking at pornography is equated with committing adultery and the Bible says no one who does such things has any place in the Kingdom think about it by looking at pornography you're trading Eternity for a few moments of pleasure let me say that again you're trading Eternity for a few moments of pleasure is it worth it the fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness let it not even be named among you as is fitting for the Saints neither filthiness nor foolish talking nor coarse digesting which are not fitting but rather giving of thanks for this you know that no fornicator unclean person or Covetous man who is an idolater has any inheritance in the Kingdom of Christ and God notice that foolish talking and coarse jesting are also mentioned here as well that means we shouldn't even joke about sexual sins think about how often people make those type of statements movies and TV shows are full of sexual jokes and innuendos how often do you hear guys at work doing the same thing it's not enough to keep our body from sexual sin we also need to keep our mind from thinking about those things keep our eyes from looking at those things keep our mouth from talking about those things and keep our ears from listening to such things the Bible says when we participate in sexually immoral Behavior we're defiling the temple of God flee sexual immorality every sin that man does is outside the body but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body or do you not know that your body is the Temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you whom you have from God and you are not your own that's why sexual immorality and idolatry are so closely related when we commit sexual sin we're practicing a form of idolatry we're bringing an Unholy image into the temple of God and defiling the temple the idolatry of worshiping the flesh is a slippery slope once you start down that path you can easily fall into worse sins therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness in the lusts of their hearts to dishonor their bodies among themselves who Exchange change the truth of God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator who is blessed forever amen for this reason God gave them up to vile passions for even their women exchange the natural use for what is against nature likewise also the men leaving the natural use of the woman burned in their lust from one another men with men committing what is shameful and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due think about this verse for a minute God gave them up to uncleanness and lust what does that mean it means that God gave them what they were looking for instead of pursuing God these people were pursuing sexual gratification so God says if that's what you want then you can have it press down shaken together and overflowing and he allows them to fall deeper and deeper into their own depravity the scientific term for this is habituation this refers to what happens when a stimulus becomes less stimulating and the introduction of new or increasing stimulus is required to achieve the same result or feeling as was before we see this in drug addicts who need higher doses to feel the same high but we also say that pornos as well this is why people get into fetishes it's also why they eventually find themselves attracted to things they used to find repulsive the Bible says God gives us over to our own vile passions the same old sin no longer gets us excited so we begin seeking more novelty and more depravity this is also why people don't usually stop after one Affair if a person commits adultery once and they don't experience any negative consequences their chances of doing it again increased significantly and the more times they do it the more bold they become in their sin the same thing happens with any sin if you don't receive discipline or correction which is why we should welcome discipline from God as many as I love I rebuke and chasten therefore for be zealous and repent when God disciplines us we need to listen and repent because if we continue chasing after that sin eventually he'll give us over to it when God removes his hand of correction from us it's a sign that we've gone too far if we aren't responding to the conviction of the Holy Spirit then eventually the holy spirit will stop speaking to us to be a person that God has given over to sin should terrify us and if you want to get out of that sin you have to be zealous and repent therefore submit to God resist the devil and he will flee from you draw near to God and He will draw near to you cleanse your hands you Sinners and purify your hearts you double-minded lament and mourn and weep let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to Gloom humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord and He will lift you up this is the picture we see with the prodigal son he was allowed to go his way and do whatever he wanted but eventually he looked around and realized he was wallowing in the filth with the pigs sometimes God allows us to wallow in our own filth for a while so that we might come to our senses and repent but you have to hate your sin if you want to be free from it you'll never get free from sin as long as you still love it you have to hate your sin enough to kill it Yeshua said to pluck out your eye and cast it away from you if it causes you to sin but I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust after her has already committed adultery with her in his heart if your right eye cause you to sin pluck it out and cast it from you for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish than for your whole body to be cast into hell and if your right hand causes you to sin cut it off and cast it from you for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish than for your whole body to be cast into hell when you truly understand how evil lust is you will hate it and you'll want to remove it from your life completely I don't think you should literally pluck out your eye but you should take Extreme Measures to guard yourself from lust for some people that might mean getting rid of your internet access for others it might mean getting rid of your smartphone it might also mean getting an accountability partner or porn blocking software on your devices maybe you need to cancel Netflix or get rid of your cable subscription you might also need to stop listening to certain music or hanging out with certain people and avoiding going places where people are dressed inappropriately do whatever it takes to stop feeding your lust that's what it means to pluck out your eye but put on the Lord Jesus Christ and make no provision for the flesh to fulfill its lusts make no provision for the flesh that means don't give it anything don't feed your flesh don't provide for its desires in any way we have to put away our old former lusts and renew our mind and become the new man of God who walks by the spirit and not by the flesh that you put off concerning your former conduct the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts and be renewed in the spirit of your mind and that you put on the new man which was created according to God in true righteousness and Holiness I say then walk in the spirit and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh for the flesh lusts against the spirit and the spirit against the Flesh and these are contrary to one another so that you do not do the things that you wish I know some of you are already coming up with excuses and arguments about why you can't quit that's your flesh lying to you to keep you trapped in sin now let's take a closer look at some of the lies that keep you trapped in sin we all know that sin is deceitful Satan lies to us to get us to sin and that's been a strategy from the beginning Satan lied to Eve in the garden and she believed his lie instead of believing the word of God and that's why she ate the forbidden fruit she ate the fruit because she believed the lie that's why we sin because we believe the lies the devil tells us Satan is a liar and he's really good at it you are of your father the devil and the desires of your father you want to do he was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him when he speaks a lie he speaks from his own resources for he is a liar and the father of it the devil lies to us to get us to sin and we remain in sin because we lie to ourselves that's why the truth sets us free so I'm going to look at some of the common lives we believe that keep us in bondage to this sin lie number one it's okay because it's not hurting anyone this is an obvious lie because it does hurt people if you're married or even dating a woman it hurts her because you betrayed her the Bible says lust is adultery and the Betrayal of lust is the same as the Betrayal of adultery but I say to you whoever looks at a woman to Lust For Her has already committed adultery with her in his heart you know it's betrayal that's why you do it in secret if it's not betrayal then why do you keep it hidden from your wife or girlfriend the fact that it's done in secret proves that it hurts other people sin hides in the dark because it's ugly it's hurtful it's offensive and shameful and lust is no different however the Bible also explains that sexual sin hurts us as well flee sexual immorality every sin that a man does is outside the body but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body looking at porn as a self-destructive habit not only are you hurting people you love but you're also hurting yourself and destroying your own soul whoever commits adultery with a woman lacks understanding he who does so destroys his own soul remember that lust is the same as adultery so that means looking at porn is adultery and according to the Bible it destroys your soul lust is an enemy that wants to kill you we need to start treating it like an enemy instead of welcoming into our home like a friend lust wants to destroy your marriage destroy your family destroy your walk with the Lord and ultimately destroy your soul Stop Believing the lie that lust is harmless and accept the truth that lust is trying to destroy your life and hurt the people you love lie number two everyone does it so it's not that bad I know it's an overstatement to say that everyone does it however it does seem that the majority of people do participate in sexual sin but is truth established by the majority or by the word of God does morality change based on majority vote can wrong become right if enough people do it remember the wide Road leads to destruction and many take that road so if everyone does it we should probably look for the other path that few people are taking because the narrow road leads to life entered by the narrow gate for wide as the gate and brought us the way that leads to destruction and there are many who go in by it because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life and there are few who find it there was something I wanted to do when I was a child and I remember telling my dad everyone's doing it and he responded by saying if everyone jumped off a cliff would you do it too that's how we need to think about all sin but especially this one in particular because it's so dangerous and destructive close your eyes and picture thousands of men lining up to jump off a cliff to their death now when your flesh tries to lie to you think of that picture the wide Road leads to destruction and many go in by it if you want to do what everyone else is doing you will suffer their fate but if you want to enter the kingdom of God you have to take the narrow road that few people find lie number three I'm I'm the victim it's someone else's fault talk about living with a defeated mindset we live in a world where everyone wants to play the victim everyone is looking for someone else to blame for their situation if you want to stop losing this battle you have to stop being defeated and stop playing the victim you need to take responsibility for your own actions and stop trying to pass the blame onto someone else we see this lie in the beginning when Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit Adam blamed Eve and Eve blamed the serpent everyone wanted to pass the blame to someone else no one wanted to take responsibility for their own actions however God placed the responsibility on each one by punishing them each individually for their involvement by blaming Eve Adam was not exempt from punishment and by blaming the serpent Eve was not exempt from punishment they were each responsible for their own actions and they were punished accordingly when we sin we are the one who Bears the responsibility for that choice we can't blame anyone else for our actions or Desires in fact the Bible explains that it's your own evil desires that entice you to sin so you can't blame anyone else let no one say when he is tempted I am tempted by God for God cannot be tempted by evil nor does he himself tempt anyone but each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed we're all accountable for our own actions you will not be held responsible for the sins of another man and no one else will be held responsible for your sins we will each give account for ourselves on the day of judgment the soul who sins shall die the son shall not bear the guilt of the father nor the father bear the guilt of the son the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself this means it's all on you your righteousness or your wickedness either way you will be the one accountable for your choices you can't blame anyone else you made the choice to sin and you will face the consequences of that choice the Bible says we will all be judged for our actions both good and bad for we must all appear before the Judgment seat of Christ that each one may receive the things done in the body according to what he has done whether good or bad so stop blaming other people for your bad choices when you choose to look at porn you're the one making that choice and when you stand before God on Judgment day you will have no one to blame but yourself stop believing the lie that you're the victim and take responsibility for your own actions and repent lie number four the devil made me do it while it's true that the devil can tempt us it's a lie to say he made me do it the devil can't make you do anything but you can choose to obey the devil So when you say the devil made me do it you're actually saying I choose to obey the devil instead of God when it comes to this sin listen to what Yeshua said about those who do what the devil wants them to do you're of your father the devil and the desires of your father you want to do you're a son of the devil if you do the things the devil wants you to do the Bible also says whoever sins is of the devil he who sins is of the devil for the Devil is sinned from the beginning for this purpose the Son of God was manifested that he might destroy the works of the devil when someone says the devil made me do it I'm reminded of Judas the Bible says the devil prompted Judas to betray Yeshua and supper being ended the devil having already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot Simon's son to betray him you can make the argument that the devil made Judas betray Yeshua the Bible even says the devil put it into his heart but when the Betrayal took place Yeshua put the responsibility on Judas not the devil but Jesus said to him Judas are you betraying the son of man with a kiss and Yeshua also referred to Judas as the Son of Perdition indicating that his fate was eternal condemnation while I was with them in the world I kept them in your name Those whom you gave to me I have kept none of them is lost except the Son of Perdition that the scripture might be fulfilled Judas was one of yeshua's disciples but when he listened to the devil and betrayed Yeshua he became the Son of Perdition the devil is definitely an enemy we need to be on guard against and the Bible tells us that he wants to devour us like a lion so do we really want to say the devil made me do it be sober be vigilant because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour we need to be prepared and Vigilant to do whatever it takes to resist the devil because when he tempts us to sin it's because he wants to destroy us the Bible gives us two things we must do when we're tempted therefore submit to God resist the devil and he will flee from you the first thing is to submit to God and the second is to resist the devil to submit to God means that we humble ourselves before God and Obey him the next step is to resist the devil but we won't have any success in resisting the devil if we don't first submit to God why does the devil flee because we've already submitted ourselves to God it's only by submitting to God's Authority that we can actually resist the devil the truth is the devil can tempt you but he can't force you to sin lie number five there are no consequences for this sin this is one of the most slippery slopes when dealing with sin because it's deception compounds and builds on itself first it makes you think you can get away with sin because you haven't felt any consequences next it makes you think you're exempt from consequences altogether then it makes you believe your sin is not a big deal and finally it makes you believe you'll never get caught so what truth do we need to understand if we want to counter this lie the Bible says you'll be caught by your lust the righteousness of the upright will deliver them but the Unfaithful will be caught by their lust there are always consequences to your actions even if you don't realize them yet you might not have been caught but there's still consequences sexual sin distances us from God and from other people every time we sin sexually we're damaging our relationship with God and our family sexual sin warps your mind numbs your conscience and steals the Joy from every aspect of your life it causes you to become more and more perverse and corrupt in your thinking and it also leads to other sins such as lying we lie because we don't want to get caught when we do this we're protecting our sins we're trying to avoid getting caught and the negative consequences we might face the fact that you lie to hide your sin is an acknowledgment that you understand there are negative consequences for your choices the Bible tells us the wages of sin is death for the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our lord you might not have receive received your wages yet but keep on sinning and you will no one will go unpunished though they join forces the wicked will not go unpunished but the posterity of the righteous will be delivered the LIE says there are no consequences for your sin but the truth is you will face judgment for your sins lie number six this sin is too difficult to overcome this lie is an attack on God's character because you're saying that God is Not faithful to deliver you you're also saying that God is allowing you to be tempted beyond what you can endure and on top of that you're saying that God has not given you a way out all of these lies are addressed in a single verse no temptation has overtaken you except such as common to man but God is faithful who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able but with the Temptation Will May will also make the way of Escape that you may be able to Bear it you need to stop believing this lie and let the truth of scripture set you free Stop Believing in a false god who is unable to save you and start believing in the truth of scripture that God is able to save to the uttermost no sin is too big or too difficult for God to overcome but we make it seem impossible people when we lied ourselves you have to believe that God is greater than your sin if you want to find Freedom you were of God little children and have overcome them because he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world God is greater than Satan and God is greater than your sin when we're led by God submit to God follow God and believe the word of God we will find Freedom from every sin including sexual sin because it's by faith that we overcome the world for whoever is born of God overcomes the world and this is the victory that has overcome the world our faith Stop Believing the lie that you can't be free from the sin and believe the truth of God's word that you have freedom through Christ lie number seven I can do this myself on my own strength some people are tempted to think they have the willpower or strength to conquer sin on their own this is a lie because you think you can save yourself from sin but the truth is no one can save you from sin but God alone you can't save yourself there's only one Savior and it's not you I even I am the Lord and besides me there is no savior sin is a prison and only someone with a key can unlock the door and you don't have that key Yeshua is the only one with the keys to set you free I am he who lives and was dead and behold I Am Alive forevermore amen and I have the keys of Hades and of death Yeshua is the only one who can set you free from this prison of sin and death you can't defeat sin on your own strength you have to let the Lord be your strength and your salvation the Lord is my strength and my song and he has become my salvation this requires us to admit that we are weak and unable to save ourselves we need to Humble ourselves and cry out to God for help have mercy on me O Lord for I am weak O Lord Heal me for my bones are troubled the Bible says that God shows grace to the humble and that his grace and strength are shown to be perfect when we admit our weakness and need for him and he said to me my grace is sufficient for you for my strength is made perfect in weakness therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities that the power of Christ May rest upon me therefore I take pleasure and infirmities in reproaches and needs and persecutions in distresses for Christ's sake for when I am weak then I'm strong the truth is you can't defeat lust on your own strength you have to submit to God and do what he says let him be your strength and let his grace be efficient for your weakness lie number eight why hasn't god Set Me Free from this yet this question is actually based in a lie that God hasn't given me what I need to be free this lie implies that God is withholding something from you that you need in order to be set free from the sin however the truth is that God has given us everything we need to live a Godly life has his divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness through the knowledge of him who called us by glory and virtue this means we've already been given everything we need to live a Godly life so if you haven't been set free from sexual sin that means it's your fault not God's Yeshua died for your sins he took your lust and nailed it to the Cross but we continue to pick up that sin and carry it around you were set free from porn when Yeshua died on the cross but for some reason you aren't walking in that freedom remember when Israel was set free from bondage in Egypt and they began saying how they desired to return to Egypt because the food was so good we do the same thing with our sins God has set us free from that bondage but we don't see it as bondage we see it as tasty food and we want to go back to it so the issue is that we keep returning to our old sinful ways after being set free from that bondage so the real question is why why do we put ourselves back in bondage to sin when we return to our old sinful ways we're making ourselves slaves to sin once again Jesus answered them most assuredly I say to you whoever commits sin is a slave of sin we've been set free from sin by the death and resurrection of Yeshua so why do we keep sinning it's because we believe the lies the LIE says that you have not been set free from sin yet but the truth is that Yeshua completed the work of Salvation on the cross but we Keep On Believing the lies and we continue serving sin as a slave the truth is we are willingly choosing to submit ourselves to sin once again do you not know that to whom you present yourselves as slaves to obey you are that one slaves whom you obey whether of sin leading to death or of obedience leading to righteousness we have a choice either we obey sin or we obey God we can submit to sin or we can submit to God when we submit to sin we're making ourselves slaves to sin but when we submit to God we become free from sin and are slaves to righteousness but God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin yet you obeyed from the heart that form of Doctrine to which you were delivered and having been set free from sin you became slaves of righteousness you only find Freedom from sin when you submit yourself to God therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body that you should obey in its lusts lie number nine I can be a man of God and remain in this sin this is an extremely dangerous lie because it seeks to justify your hypocrisy consider the fact that Yeshua rebuked the Pharisees for their hypocrisy they were religious men and they claimed to be children of God but Yeshua said they were sons of the devil you are of your father the devil and the desires of your father you want to do he was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him when he speaks a lie he speaks from his own resources for he is a liar and the father of it the Bible defines two types of people those who belong to God and those who belong to the devil you're either a child of God or you're a child of the devil now listen to how these two groups are defined whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness and sin is lawlessness and you know that he was manifested to take away our sins and in him there is no sin whoever abides in him does not sin whoever sins has neither seen him nor known it little children let no one deceive you he who practices righteousness is righteous just as he is righteous he who sins is of the devil for the devil has sinned from the beginning for this purpose the Son of God was manifested that he might destroy the works of the devil Whoever has been born of God does not sin for his seed remains in him and he cannot sin because he has been born of God in this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God nor is he who does not love his brother those who practice sin are children of the devil but those who practice righteousness are children of God what does it mean to practice something practice is defined a few different ways first it's the application of an idea as opposed to Simply a theory second it's the customary habitual or expected procedure of doing something third it means to perform something repeatedly or regularly to maintain one's proficiency and fourth it means to carry out an activity regularly so with that definition in mind are you someone who practices sin or righteousness are you repeating the same sin over and over if so you're practicing that sin remember the old saying practice makes perfect have you ever considered that the reason you're so good at sin is because you practice it so much we need to stop practicing sin and start practicing righteousness if we want to live a righteous life the life says you can be a man of God and continue practicing sin but the truth is if you're practicing sin you're not a man of God lie number 10 I'm still saved even though I do the sin this lie is extremely dangerous because it convinces you that you're saved when you're not think about the absurdity of this claim you're saying I've been saved from sin but I can continue to sin sin is the thing that makes us unsaved sin is the thing that leads to death sin is the thing Yeshua came to set us free from so it's a literal impossibility for you to say I'm no longer a slave to sin but I'm still slave descent you can't be free from sin and still be a slave to sin that doesn't even make sense the Bible says you can't serve two masters no one can serve two masters for either he will hate one and love the other or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other you can't serve both God and Mammon we address similar things with a few other lies so I don't want to repeat myself here but the Bible says if you sin you're slave to sin how can he be a slave to sin and claim to be free when you tell yourself this lie you're fooling yourself into thinking you can still enter the kingdom of God even if you continue practicing a life of sin however the Bible says that Sodom and Gomorrah are given as an example of what happens to those who give themselves over to sexual immorality as Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities around them in similar manner to these having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh are set forth as an example suffering the Vengeance of Eternal fire this verse should terrify by anyone who commits sexual sin if we're giving ourselves over to sexual immorality we should expect to face Eternal fire but instead we lie to ourselves and convince ourselves that we're somehow different that we won't face God's judgment we seem to think we have a sin and get away with a badge the problem is the Bible says we should expect judgment if we sin willfully after receiving the saving knowledge of Yeshua for if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins but a certain fearful expectation of judgment and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries again this verse should terrify us all we claim to be followers of Yeshua we claim to be saved and we've convinced ourselves that we'll be in the kingdom of God when Yeshua returns yet we continue to walk in sexual sin this is a lie that will keep us out of the Kingdom the Bible says that no sexually immoral person has any place in the kingdom of God now the works of the flesh are evident we which are adultery fornication uncleanness lewdness idolatry sorcery hatred contentions jealousies Albertson wrath selfish ambition dissensions heresies Envy murders drunkenness revelries and the like of which I tell you beforehand just as I also told you in time past that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God I want to emphasize those last words again those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God those who practice adultery will not inherit the kingdom of God remember that lust is the same as adultery those who practice fornication will not inherit the kingdom of God the word fornication is pornia and it's where we get the word pornography those who practice lewdness will not inherit the kingdom of God lewdness is sexual conduct that's indecent or offensive in other words those who practice any form of sexual immorality will not inherit the kingdom of God do you still believe the lie that you can practice sexual sin and still be saved believe the truth of God's word that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God and repent so that you can be saved you might be asking what do I do now the first thing you need to do is repent repentance is always the first step towards salvation this requires you to acknowledge your sin and your need for salvation it also requires you to hate your sin enough to stop doing it that's what the Bible calls Godly sorrow for Godly sorrow produces repentance leading to Salvation not to be regretted but the sorrow of the world produces death Godly sorrow is when you realize how vile and ugly your sin is and you never want to do it again Godly sorrow is when you hate your sin enough to stop worldly sorrow is when you're sorry you got caught worldly Sorrows when you feel bad about your actions but not enough to stop most men feel worldly sorrow about their sexual sin but only Godly sorrow produces repentance you have to hate your sin enough to stop repentance means to turn away from sin and to turn towards God sin separates us from God and when we repent we're turning back to God just like the prodigal son who recognized that he was living with the pigs and he decided to return home he turned away from wallowing in the mud and began walking toward his father repentance means we turn away from our sin and start walking towards God repent therefore and be converted that your sins may be blotted out so that times a refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord don't neglect this one God has given you time to repent take the opportunity to do it don't wait because tomorrow might be too late and I gave her time to repent over sexual immorality and she did not repent the next step is to seek God first above everything else but seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things will be added unto you but from there you will seek the Lord your God and you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul we have to seek the Lord with all our heart this is important because the Bible tells us when we don't seek the Lord we do what is evil in his sight and he did Evil because he did not prepare his heart to seek the Lord seeking the Lord first means that we love God more than anything else to seek Him First means to put God first in your life this means we make it a priority to study the Bible and meditate on God's word it also means we make it a priority to spend time in prayer spending time reading God's word and letting it transform our mind is vital and changing our thinking and renewing our mind to be like Christ the Bible talks about God washing us and sanctifying us in the water of the word that he might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of Water by the word lies keep us bound at sin but the truth of God's word sets us free from sin that's why we need to fill our mind with the word of God but it also means we need to stop filling our minds with the lies and filth of the world your mind can't be clean if you keep filling it with garbage when we abide in God's word we learn the truth and the truth transforms our mind and gives us freedom from all sin then Jesus said to the those Jews who believed him if you abide in my word you are my disciples indeed and you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free when we seek God first we make other things less important it's about priorities when you're walking in sin you made sin a priority sin was your God you have to reverse that if you want to be set free from sin when you submit to God and make serving God your highest priority you will stop serving sin the Bible tells us to seek the Lord while he can be found seek the Lord while he may be found call upon him while he is near this means there may come a time when he can't be found if you're feeling conviction from this message it's the Holy Spirit speaking to you don't neglect this opportunity that God is giving you to seek him you don't know how many opportunities you'll get seek the Lord while he may be found by you the third step is to crucify the flesh Christ died for our sins and we receive forgiveness for sin because of his blood but the Bible says we must crucify our own flesh and die to our old self to become a new man this is done by the power of yeshua's death and Resurrection listen to what the Bible says about dying with Christ now if we died with Christ we believe that we shall also live with him for you died and your life is hidden with Christ in God I have been crucified with Christ it is no longer I who live but Christ lives in me and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave himself for me when we die to sin we can say it's no longer I who live but Christ who lives in me we have to die to sin if we want to live for Christ we're all born in sin we're sinners from birth we don't become Sinners when we sin it's part of our nature we are by Nature Sinners because we are born of the flesh the Bible says we are born Sinners and we sin because we're Sinners this is why Yeshua said we must be born again Jesus answered and said to him most assuredly I say to you unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God we're born in the flesh but to be saved we need a spiritual birth when we die to sin and crucify our sin nature we become a new creation in Christ therefore if anyone is in Christ he is a new creation the old things that passed away behold all things have become new being a Christ means we've put off the old sin nature and we've received a new heart and a new spirit then I will sprinkle clean water on you and you shall be clean I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from your all your Idols I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you I will take the Heart of Stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of Flesh I will put my spirit within you and cause you to walk in my statutes and you will keep my judgments and do them this is the process of being born again we're washed and cleansed by Yeshua so that the filthiness of our sin is removed and we receive a new heart and a new spirit so that we can walk in obedience to God's Commandments Yeshua said we must be born again if we want to enter the kingdom of God Jesus answered Moses surely I say to you unless one is born of water and the spirit he cannot enter the kingdom of God this spiritual birth begins when we're crucified with Christ when our flesh is crucified the power of sin is destroyed and when we receive the Holy Spirit we're empowered to live a Godly life this is what it means to take up your cross and follow Yeshua then Jesus said to his disciples if anyone desires to come after me let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me and he who does not take up his cross and follow after me is not worthy of me crucifying our flesh requires us to deny ourselves this means to deny our sinful flesh what it wants and to follow Yeshua instead it's only by crucifixion that we find victory over sin but God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ by whom the world has been crucified to me and I to the world we die to sin when we're baptized in Christ this baptism washes away our sin and crucifies sin from within us so that we no longer live according to the flesh what shall we say then shall we continue in sin that Grace May abound certainly not how shall we who died to sin live any longer in it or do not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death therefore we were buried with him through baptism into death that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the father even so we also should walk in newness of life for if we have been United together in the likeness of his death certainly we also shall be in the likeness of his resurrection knowing this that our old man was crucified with him that the body of sin might be done away with that we should no longer be slaves of sin for he who has died has been freed from sin baptism is not a symbol it's a crucial step in being born again when the apostles preached they compelled people to be baptized for the remission of sin then Peter said to him repent and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit when Yeshua sent out the apostles he instructed them to baptize people go therefore and Make Disciples of all Nations baptizing them in the name of the father and of the son and of the Holy Spirit when we're baptized we're identifying with Christ and receiving his salvation when we go under the water we are dying to sin and when we come up out of the water we are resurrecting to New Life baptism is a requirement for salvation because it's the act of our will submitting to God's will baptism is our response to the saving work of Christ done on the cross the Bible describes baptism as the answer of a good conscience toward God there's also an antitype which now saves us baptism not the removal of the filth of the flesh but the answer of a good conscience toward God through the resurrection of Jesus Christ Our flesh needs to be crucified and our hearts need to be circumcised in him you were also circumcised with the circumcision made without hands by the putting off of the body of sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ buried with him in baptism in which you also were raised with him through faith in the working of God who raised him from the dead and you being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh he is Made Alive together with him having forgiven you all trespasses having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us which was contrary to us and he has taken it out of the way having nailed it to the cross the circumcision of Christ means putting away the sins of the flesh we're buried with him in baptism and we become a new creation that is dead to sin and alive to Christ when our old sinful man has been crucified with Christ there's no longer a list of transgressions against us our past has forgiven us and we have a clean slate we're a new creation in Christ for as many of you as were baptized ties into Christ had put on Christ and because of this we can say it's no longer I who live but Christ who lives within me my life of obedience is an act of Thanksgiving for the Salvation he's given me therefore we present our bodies as a Living Sacrifice by dying to sin and living to God I beseech you therefore Brethren by the mercies of God that you present your bodies a Living Sacrifice holy acceptable to God which is your reasonable service our obedience is the only appropriate response to his grace when we crucify our flesh we say to ourselves how can I who have died to sin live any longer in it the fourth step is to abide in Christ to abide means to remain and not depart we are dead to sin when we abide in Christ so we must abide in him if we're to remain dead to sin and the Bible says whoever abides in Christ does not sin whoever abides in him does not sin whoever sins has neither seen him nor known him so what does it mean to abide in Christ the Bible defines it for us in two ways the first definition is to walk as he walked he who says he abides in him ought himself also to walk just as he walked my dad used to tell me to ask the question what would Jesus do this is one way we can learn to walk as he walked when we Face difficult situations simply ask yourself what would Jesus do in this situation and then go do that but the Bible gives us a second definition for what it means to abide in Christ and that is to obey his Commandments now he who keeps his Commandments abides in him and he and him and by this we know that he abides in Us by the spirit whom he has given us to abide in Christ means we obey his Commandments into Biden's Commandments requires us to abide in his word that's why we need to spend time in the word daily you can't be a disciple of Yeshua if you're not letting his word transform you daily then Jesus said to those Jews who believed if you abide in my word you are my disciples indeed and you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free Yeshua used the example of a Vine and he said we must abide in him if we want to produce good fruit abide in me and I in you you as the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine neither can you unless you abide in me I am the vine you are the branches he who abides in me and I in him Bears much fruit for without me you can do nothing if anyone does not abide in me he is cast out as a branch and withered and they gather them and throw them into the fire and they are burned we have to realize that we can do nothing good on our own the only way we can produce good fruit is if we abide in Christ and if we don't abide in him we'll be cast out like a dead branch and thrown into the fire it's vital to our Salvation that we continue to abide in him daily I want to end this teaching with a few tools and tips that will help you in your battle with sexual sin the first tip is to remove triggers and temptations this means removing access to things you know are a weakness for you take an honest look at things like social media electronic devices books movies video games music or anything else that might trigger you to be tempted I also recommend installing internet filters on your computer and your phone to make it more difficult to access porn you might also need to remove yourself from certain environments that are tempting such as swimming pools beaches or the gym where women are not dressed modestly the second tip is to get accountability and discipleship find someone you trust who you can be honest with about your struggles give them permission to ask you how you're doing with this sin find someone to Mentor you and disciple you in your walk with God this also includes being part of a believing Community find a Congregation of Believers that can help strengthen you in your walk with the Lord you can't be a Christian without Community we need each other for accountability and encouragement we also need others to help us carry our burdens don't neglect the importance of Godly Fellowship the third tip is to practice the spiritual disciplines of the Bible reading prayer and fasting these three things will help keep you on the right path we see these disciplines being practiced by God's people throughout the Bible the early church encouraged people to fast twice a week they also prayed three times a day morning noon and evening as a form of daily sacrifice and they spent time reading and hearing God's word reading the Bible teaches us what we need to know and and how to walk out our faith prayer is spending time talking with God and learning to hear him and fasting is a great way to build self-discipline when you fast you're denying your flesh what it's hungry for by fasting you're training your flesh to submit to your spirit and when you fast use it as
